Halloween

Deon and Jonah went as nerds, Liliana and Naomi were bees, I was the beehive, and Marea? Marea was Ariel. She was supposed to be Tiana. I bought the costume. It was the ONLY costume I bought . But the dress was just a skimpy little halter top, and it also happened to be cold that night so Deon and I agreed she needed to wear a shirt under it. Marea did not agree. I can tell this will not be the last of our wardrobe disagreements. So I let her off the hook with the Tiana costume and offered to whip her up a bee costume (in the 2 minutes we had before leaving) What was I thinking? Why would Marea want to wear the same thing as her sisters and complete a very cute little family theme. It ended with a, "Fine, just be Ariel or something."
Thank goodness for being the neighborhood hand-me-down "caboose".

Crazy I've become

I made 30 of these little origami Yodas for Jonah's class. THIRTY. That's not the crazy part. I actually enjoyed sitting and doing something mindless, yet productive, for an hour(I keep telling myself it was only an hour). The crazy part is, I'm not even sure this is a graded book report. It might just be a "fun little something" for literature day.
Extra credit he must get or furious will I be, hmmm?

The Sand Pit 5K

The sand Mt. Everest
Filling in"the swamp"
As you can tell from our glamour shot, the picture of my sister Lindi and I was taken after the race. The first half of the race started off on packed sand (the sand on the water line). We had the first 2 obstacles in the ocean which was basically running in and out around bouys that were supposedly waist high...well maybe if you were 6'4''. However if you are 5'4'' and then you factor in the surf, know that I went under water at lest 3 times and mostly "running" in water up to my arm pits. Then we ran the second half of the race in dry sand(AKA deep). That was tough because I have a hard time walking in deep sand let alone running in it. Plus we are throwing in obstacles like "the swamp" and "MT. Everest" and hurdling road blocks, running through tires, stepping through hanging hula hoops, belly sand crawls, over/under limbo bars. But you know what, it was so ridiculous it was fun, and I am crazy enough to do it again next year.

Naomi's Baptism Day

September 11th 2010

Naomi was so excited to turn 8 and be baptized by her dad. She told me just before she went down into the water, "I've waited my whole life for this!"

Notice the newly pierced ears.

My parents and my sister Melinda and her family drove down from the Bay Area for the weekend. It was really busy but fun, fun, fun.

It was my sister Jana's anniversary, and my niece Elise's first birthday. Throw in a business meeting, a soccer game, a race, an airport pick-up, and a dinner party and the day was about complete.

Maybe Lindi will post pictures from the Sand Pit 5K we did Saturday morning. Running in deep sand, in the ocean, military style obstacles, it was exhausting and a total blast.

missing summer already

I just wrote a big paragraph that got lost in a copy/paste blunder.
Ah.
To some up I'll just mention that one of my favorite parts of the summer- a mom and kids trip to Lake Tahoe with two of my best friends-is not represented here due to the fact that my camera was lost under the seat of my road trip mess of a van. But we loved every minute (minus a few 3 year old tantrums and sleepness baby nights) of our trip with the Montez and Russell families. Highlights: Sand Harbor, hiking, the chairlift, attempting geocaching, our up close and impressive bear sighting(she rolled over a dumster), rec center swimming, Kathi's gourmet meals, and nightly girl talk. Can't wait for next summer.
Here are some thing you can see.

Grand T and Oma bought the kids Legoland passes and we all went together. Even Liliana was excited.
Jonah celebrating getting his drivers liscense
Lily and Naomi
We took the kids on their first camping trip-in our back yard. Full success. How can a tent kill your grass in 24 hours?
Jonah went for an early morning tracter run at Nana and Papa's house.
Insert here: swimming in our pool everyday, and weekly trips to the beach, planting a mostly failed garden, and just enjoying having my kids around all day.
The first day of school, August 17th, came too soon for me.

...luckily the kids were excited for it.
Naomi started 2nd grade and Jonah is in 4th.
Here we go again...
